Honda Recalls 820,000 Defective Cars

When you are driving a car, you want to trust that that vehicle is reliable. Being out of control when driving a car is a terrible and potentially fatal situation. If you have purchased a Honda Civic a Pilot recently, you may want to take it right back to the dealership. According to The Huffington Post, Honda is recalling more than 820,000 cars because the headlights can fail when out on the road. Driving a car without headlights can bring on many dangers. Other drivers won’t be able to see the approaching car, and the driver may not be able to see in front of him or her. Honda says that Civic compact cars and Pilot SUVs have a tendency for this malfunction. The headlights often shut off while the car is being operated, which can cause accidents if the driver is not prepared.

News reports say that the company is recalling models from the 2002 and 2003 model years and Pilots from the 2004 and 2005 model season. If you own one of these cars, you can take it to the dealership for a free repair. Honda is offering repairs on a wire which connects to a switch that controls the headlights. This same switch and wire also controls the turn signals, and can overheat and melt when the car is used frequently. This in turn can discontinue the low-beam headlights so that they won’t operate properly. While reports of the incident have been frequent, there have been no crashes or injuries reported yet in conjunction with the accident. The company began sending notices to owners in their system in late September and will continue to let the car owners know about the recall. The Civics and Pilots are additions to a recall that was announced in March.

This earlier recall had to do with more than 550,000 CR-V small SUVs from the 2002 through 1004 model years. The recall also affected Pilots from the 2003 model year. These cars had the same problem with the low beam headlights. Honda isn’t the only company that has had to recall their cars in the past years for a manufacturing error. In August of this year, Dodge recalled their 2012 Dodge Dakotas because they had a tendency to overheat. The cars were equipped with a Sure Power battery separator that was causing problems for consumers. According to Autobytel, the Dodge recall will go into effect officially on October 15thm 2012. The company will repair the Sure Power battery separator for free to remove the threat of an accident or a malfunction in the car. Dodge has also chosen to recall some of their 2010 Dakotas for the same reason.

In August Chevrolet also chose to recall some of their 2007-2008 and 2010-2011 cats for Sure Power batter separator device. Chevy is also recalling some 2006-2007 Trailblazers because the circuit boards can overhead and lead to a fire. This can lead to the risk of personal injury. The company is still trying to figure out how to fix this issue but they plan to notify consumers right away. Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC owners have all been notified because a variety of cars from these makers have the same circuit board. Toyota has recently recalled withy 2011 RAV4 for issues involving the rear tire rod. Allegedly, some of the cars did not receive adequate installment on the back wheels. If the problem is not handled the rear tire rod could fail to operate, causing a collision. If you have a car that has been a part of a recall and you were not notified, or if you were involved in an accident because of a manufacturing error, then contact a personal injury attorney or car accident attorney today. You will want a lawyer on your side to fight for your right to compensation from the manufacturer.
