Automobile Crash in Denver Leads to Serious Injury and Death of Victims

After interviewing the passenger in a car the caused a severe traffic collision, authorities determined the identity of her male counterpart who was driving at the time of the crash. The passenger initially claimed to have been the driver, in what police believe was an attempt to cover for the suspect, who has a history of poor driving leading to automobile accidents.

According to information released in the aftermath of the incident, El Paso County police told reporters that the accident took place in the evening on February 13^th. The alleged driver, a 32-year old local man, was heading south down North Nevada Avenue that night with a female passenger. As he drove the vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, through the 1400 block, he somehow lost control and swerved off of the road. Law enforcement officials say they are not clear what exactly caused the man to lose control and go off the road at this time.

As the car flew off the road, it collided with a parked car on the side of the road. The force of the impact with the parked vehicle caused it to move forward, ramming into two bystanders. The victims of the accident were two plumbers, who were standing by their van when the incident occurred. She told investigators that she had been at the wheel before finally confessing the truth, leading to a manhunt for the suspect. He eventually turned himself in to police on the 20^th, and is being held on $25,000 bail while he awaits trial. Authorities say they are not sure if alcohol was a factor in the incident, as the suspect fled the scene of the crime before he could be tested for intoxication.
