The Graco Car Seat Recall

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Graco Children's Products Inc. has announced a recall of seat harness buckles that were used in several different car seat models that were created between 2009 and 2013.
An article by CNN reports that 3.7 million Graco car seats were recalled due to a buckle issue back in February. The government is still requesting that Graco recall even more of the car seats for bucked agers. The government agency has identified at least 18 car set models with defective buckles and so far Graco has conceded to recall 11 of those models.
The NHTSA is conducting an investigation into the evaluation of the Graco recall and says that they will review the 7 remaining seat models carefully to see whether or not a recall needs to be enforced. Graco explains that the issue is the red release button in the center of the car seat harness. Allegedly, the button can become difficult to unlatch or can become stuck.
This can make it almost impossible to remove the baby in the event of an emergency, leading to severe injuries. Graco says that baby foods and dried liquids, particularly sticky substances, can make some of the harness buckles harder to open over time. The company says that they have designed a safer harness that will release easier. Graco recommends that parents continue using their seats for children until the harnesses are replaced.
So far, Graco has not been notified of any injuries regarding the car seats. The models that are being recalled include: the Cozy Cline, the Comfort Sport, the Classic Ride 50, the My Ride 65, The Smart Seat, the My Ride 65 with Safety Surround, the My Ride 70, the Size4Me 70, the My Size 70 and the Head Wise 70.
