A 28-year-old man with a history of speeding tickets was killed recently when he crashed his car into the side of a Miami nursing home. E.L. was traveling down the highway to visit a friend around 2:00 am when the accident happened. Reports indicate that the man was traveling 85 mph when he hit a sharp curve on the highway and lost control of his late model sedan. The car went through a fence and hit a curved sidewalk curb which effectively acted as a ramp. The momentum of the car along with the way the curb was shaped launched the car into the air where it crashed through the side of a nursing home between the ground and second floors. Police and emergency workers arrived on the scene to find that E.L. had died on impact. Four of the care center's residents were injured by flying debris and were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Police did not find any drugs or alcohol present in E.L.'s vehicle or on his person. Authorities are awaiting a medical examiner report to determine if there were any intoxicants in his blood at the time of the accident. Speak with a car accident attorney as soon as possible if you or someone you care about was hurt in a car accident caused by someone else.
Investigation Continues into Fatal Injury Wreck
According to the North Miami Beach police detective heading the investigation into the deadly accident E.L. has a fairly lengthy record involving numerous speeding tickets as well as other violations. Police detectives determined that E.L. must have been traveling a great deal faster than the posted 35 mph on that stretch of road. This determination was based on the trajectory and force with which the car crashed into the side of the building. Police reports indicate that although the road curves somewhat sharply at that point they have not had many accident reports at that location in the past.
