A 70 year old woman was killed after the vehicle she was travelling in was hit twice on South Padre Island Drive, in Corpus Christi, Texas. A twenty-three year old woman was driving while intoxicated when she hit the 70 year old and her niece who was riding in the passenger seat. She was given a field sobriety test and a blood test. She was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI). According to police, the victim survived that initial crash but as she tried to direct other drivers around the wreck another vehicle struck her car.
A passerby attempted to help the women out of the vehicle after the first collision. He stated he saw another vehicle headed toward the wreck and pulled the niece out of the way without a moment to spare. When that vehicle crashed into the victim's car, it was pushed forward and she was run over by her own vehicle. The full investigation of the incident is still underway but police do not believe the third driver involved was under the influence of anything.
